Historic Launch: TAU's Faculty of Engineering to Send Largest Israeli Satellite Swarm into Space
On March 3 at 08:46 a.m. (Israel time), the Faculty of Engineering at Tel Aviv University will launch a fleet of nine nanosatellites into space from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, USA. This groundbreaking mission, aimed at cosmic radiation research, marks the largest Israeli satellite swarm ever developed—exceeding any academic or commercial satellite group in Israel.
The satellites were designed and built by engineering students at Tel Aviv University, alongside outstanding high school students from across the country. The project was led by Prof. Meir Ariel, Head of the Space Engineering Center, and the Space Engineering Center team at the Faculty of Engineering.
A Mission of Science and Remembrance
In addition to gathering crucial cosmic radiation data, the satellites carry a special commemorative mission: they will broadcast the names of those fallen in the Iron Swords War, serving as a tribute from space.
Leading the Future of Space Research
The Faculty of Engineering continues to expand its leadership in space technology, recently securing an additional defense-related research grant for satellite development. More space-related research projects are set to launch in the coming months, reinforcing Tel Aviv University’s position as a global leader in nanosatellite technology. Recognized by NASA, the Faculty of Engineering stands among the world's top institutions in the field of new space research and nanosatellite innovation.

🚀 Stay tuned for the historic launch and follow TAU’s journey into space!
